Viagra
Viagra (sildenafil) is a highly-efficient pill available by prescription intended for males unable to have sex because of insufficient erection. Viagra is usually taken about 30-45 minutes before sexual activity and the effects last for 4 hours on the average. Before you start the treatment, make sure you tell your health care provider about a history of allergic reactions to any medicines, especially sildenafil. You are not supposed to take Viagra if you have been allergic to it, as the same reaction is very likely to happen again. Most common side effects of Viagra include headache, backache, muscle ache, and stuffy nose. Serious side effects of Viagra include shortness of breath, vision changes, irregular heartbeat, ringing in your ears, or sudden loss of vision, swelling in the ankles, feet or hands, general ill feeling. Priapism (abnormally long and painful erection) is fraught with permanent damage of the tissues of the penis. Make sure you seek emergency medical help if your erection lasts for longer than 4 hours and is very painful. If you think you have taken too much of Viagra, contact your doctor immediately, or seek medical assistance in a nearby healthcare institution. The following symptoms may indicate an overdose of this medicine: lightheadedness, fainting, irregular heartbeat, and nausea. Drugs with nitrates must not be taken simultaneously with Viagra as this may cause a sudden drop in blood pressure. In case you are taking alpha blockers, your doctor may need to get you started on a low dose of Viagra. If you experience dizziness, chest pain, tingling or numbness in your arms, chest or neck while having sex, stop taking Viagra and call your doctor as soon as possible. These may be signs of a serious reaction of your body to Viagra. It often happens in patients who were told by their doctor to abstain from having sex due to health reasons. It’s important that you tell your health care provider about any medical conditions that you have or used to have, especially any of the following ones: stroke, high or low blood pressure, chest pain, bleeding disorder, heart disease, high cholesterol, heart attack, blood circulation problems, kidney disease, blood cell problems, stomach ulcer, irregular heartbeat, pulmonary veno-occlusive disease, diabetes, liver disease, and conditions affecting the shape of the penis. Some of these health problems can increase the risk of developing certain serious side effects, while others will cause unpleasant interactions if the dose of Viagra is too high. You are not supposed to combine Viagra with any of the following medications, as they can cause interactions and affect the quality of your treatment: efavirenz, seizure medications, nevirapine, certain barbiturates, cimetidine, beta blockers, alpha blockers, certain antifungals, other medications for erectile dysfunction, erythromycin, anticoagulants, HIV protease inhibitors, and medications for high blood pressure.
